Town of Bloomfield Wetlands and Zoning Services

The department provides staff support to the town Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission, including receiving permit applications and maintaining permit files, preparing and advertising meeting notices and agendas, distributing plans and other information submitted by applicants to commission members, and attending meetings to provide technical advice and assistance to commission members. The department, through the commission’s designated Wetlands Agent, issues administrative permits for activities within the upland review area but outside of the wetlands that are not likely to cause a significant impact to the wetlands, inspects on-going construction projects for compliance with wetlands permit requirements, and commences enforcement actions, including cease and desist orders, permit revocation or suspension, and notices of violation where regulated activities are being performed without a permit or in violation of permit requirements.

The department assists the Zoning Enforcement Officer with single family home plot plan reviews and Certificate of Occupancy inspections. The department performs limited inspection of both public and private construction projects for compliance with approved erosion and sediment control plan requirements.
