Town of Bloomfield Volunteer Opportunities

Did you know that the Town Council and many Boards and Commissions are staffed by volunteers? If you have talents and skills to share, and would like to serve on a board, commission, or committee, find out more about their missions and current opportunities. Get involved in your Town!

Boards/Commissions and their Purposes                           

Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities                    
A very active committee, working with people with disabilities and serving as liaison with Town and departments/staff to meet ADA and other requirements.

Beautification Committee                                   
Assists Public Works Department in planting and maintaining gardens throughout Town; presents annual awards to businesses and residents to recognize well designed and maintained landscaping.

Building Code of Appeals
Established by Town ordinance, this commission meets on an as-needed basis to hear and decide on appeals from residents about building codes.

Commission on Aging
Required by Town Ordinance, this commission works with Senior Services staff to provide programs and services to senior citizens.

Conservation, Energy, and Environmental
A very active committee, newly reappointed and activated, that works to make the community aware of energy conservation and savings opportunities.

Emergency Medical Services 
Originally charged with establishing volunteer ambulance services in Bloomfield, this committee’s charges are being evaluated for possible updates.
