Energy Assistance Programs:

  • Community Renewal Team (CRT) State Energy Assistance Program
  • Provides financial assistance for primary source of heat
  • Applicants must meet income guidelines
  • Application Period: Late October - April
  • Applicants must schedule appointment with CRT Worker
  • Appointments can be scheduled by calling Bloomfield Social & Youth Services at 860-242-1895

Operation Fuel:

Operation Fuel is a private, not-for-profit agency that provides emergency energy assistance for residents who do not qualify for government assistance

  • Applicants must meet income eligibility guidelines which must fall between 150% and 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
  • Appointments can be scheduled by calling Bloomfield Social & Youth Services at 860-242-1895

Services for Seniors and Disabled Adults:

  • Medical and Prescription Insurance Information
  • Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap Policies Information
  • Visiting Nurse & Home Care Services Referrals
  • Elderly Protective Services Referrals
  • Information regarding: Nursing Home Placement, Assisted Living or Senior/Disabled Housing
  • Other community referrals as needed


Renter's Rebate:

Renter's Rebate is an annual statewide program through the State of Connecticut Office of Policy and Management.

  • Filing Period: May 15th – September 15th
  • Applicant and/or spouse must be 65 years of age or older or must be disabled and receiving Social Security Disability or other disability benefits and show proof of disability
  • Contact Department for current income guidelines
  • Applicant must have rented in Connecticut for at least 1 year.
  • Proof of all income from the previous year
  • Proof of rent paid during the previous year
  • Proof of all utilities paid from the previous year
  • Applications are completed by Bloomfield Social & Youth Services by appointment only

  • Fee Discounts / Waivers for Bloomfield Leisure Services sponsored Summer programs
  • Food Bank
  • Holiday giving: Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner for Bloomfield's Seniors, Thanksgiving Baskets and Christmas Toy Drive for Bloomfield families with children
  • Advocacy, Information and Referral
  • Community Outreach and Education

  • Other Volunteer opportunities are available on an as needed basis
