Joseph E. Washington

Joe Washington has been a Bloomfield Resident for 24 years at 6 Essex lane.  Joe is retired from thirty years as a  United State Federal Employee: Executive Administrative Services for twenty-ones years,  United States Air Force for four years, Army Reserve for three years and a Viet Nam Veteran.

Joe's involvement with the town of Bloomfield Government began in 1998, with an appointment to the Bloomfield Town Committee.  He became a member of the:

  • Issues Committee
  • Co-Chair 2nd District
  • Member, Bloomfield Town Executive Committee
  • Alternate, Town Plan and Zoning Commission
  • Town Plan and Zoning Commission Member
  • Chair/Co-Chair Election Headquarters
  • Bloomfield Town Council, November 2012
  • Chair, Town Council Public Safety Subcommittee
  • Vice Chair, Town Council Committee on Committees        

Married 28 years to Wavis E. Washington, we have two sons, two daughters and six grandchildren.

Mr. Washington was born in Sumter, South Carolina.  His mother moved him and his two younger sisters to Hartford Connecticut during his last year of high school, and he graduated from Hartford Public High School.  He attended trade schools and colleges:

  • Greater Hartford Community College
  • University of Hartford
  • Connecticut State College, Political Science Degree

Joe's other interests include his Church Bethel A.M.E.,where he holds several positions in the Church such as: J.B. Shields Choir Member (past President), Pastor’s Aid, Senior Usher (2nd Vice President), Sunday School Teacher, Discipleship Teacher.  He is also the T.N.B.A. Saturday Doubles League Vice President.
 
Joe enjoys Rhythm and Blues music Jazz (upbeat), movies, sports, dancing and reading.
