Joan A. Gamble

Joan A. Gamble has been on the Town Council since her election in 2007. Joan is a life-long resident of Bloomfield and a graduate of the Bloomfield public schools. She holds a Bachelors and a Masters degree from the Hartford Art School of the University of Hartford. For 35 years, Joan was a middle school art teacher in East Hartford, and in 1994 was named East Hartford Teacher of the Year, the only art teacher to be so honored before or since.

Joan has been involved in her neighborhood as a representative for more than 30 years, most recently as president of the Cottage Grove Road Neighborhood Association. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Transit District and a member of the Lions Club. Joan has monitored young people doing community service, mentored Bloomfield students, and donated her talents as an artist to church and civic organizations. She also served on the Steering Committee for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Joan's volunteer work also includes creating graphic design for the Blue Hills Fire Department, serving as Artist-in-Residence for Sacred Hearth Church in Bloomfield, and serving as a curriculum consultant for the East Hartford public schools.
