Administrative Services

The Administration is responsible for the overall operations and leadership of the Department, through the oversight, management and coordination of the various workgroups, and direct handling of Legal and Labor matters, Budgeting & Finances, Grants, Public Information, Freedom of Information, and other administrative matters.

The Administrative section is staffed by the Chief, Captain, Administrative Assistant, and Administrative Clerk.

Patrol Division

nThe Patrol Division is the uniformed component of the Department, providing self initiated patrol and first response to emergency and routine calls for service; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This Division is comprised of four units: District Patrol, Traffic, Special Enforcement, and K9. A Lieutenant, six Sergeants and 26 Patrol Officers staff the Division.


Patrol officers are assigned in districts throughout the community and deploy several marked and unmarked vehicles.

Support Services Division

The Support Services Division provides various functions that support the general operations of the Police Department.


This Division is comprised of four units: Detective Unit, Community Services Unit, Animal Control Unit and Records Unit.  A Lieutenant, two Sergeants, four Detectives, one Animal Control Officer, two School Resource Officers, and three Record’s Clerks staff the Division.

Professional Standards Division

The Professional Standards Division works in close collaboration with Administrative Services.  The Professional Standards Division handles Internal Affairs, Training, Quartermaster, and Facilities Management.

The Professional Standards Division is staffed by a Lieutenant, Sergeant, Evidence/Court Liaison Officer, and part-time clerk.

Emergency Management and Medical Services

The Emergency Management component of this division has the responsibility for liaison with State and Federal Homeland Security Departments, coordinating disaster management in Bloomfield, and maintaining an operable local Emergency Operations Center.
The Emergency medical Services component of this division has the responsibility of supporting our local volunteer ambulance service and coordinating medical training for department staff and volunteers.

The division is staffed by an Administrative Police Officer who oversees division operations and oversight of approximately 50 volunteers.
