
Donna M. Banks
Donna Banks has been part of the Bloomfield Community for over 20 years and has been actively involved in the community. She has sat on several boards that addressed issues that affected people in the community. In 2009, she received her political introduction as a member of the Bloomfield Democratic Committee, which was based on a request from a member of the Democratic Party. Ms. Banks accepted without hesitation and quickly learned the duties of being a member and progressed to the position of Assistant Secretary. When it came to her attention that several council members were stepping down, she made the decision to run for a seat and was endorsed by the Democratic Party. Donna was overwhelmingly elected by the people of the Council Districts to represent them and on November 14, 2011, Council Member Donna Banks had the honor of joining the Bloomfield Town Council. Shortly after joining the Bloomfield Town Council she was elected to hold the position of Majority Leader, a position to which her Council peers selected her to serve. Majority Leader Banks is Chair of the Community Service Committee and will actively serve on other committees.
In addition, she is an active member of the Democratic Party serving as a District 3 member, serves as President of the Bloomfield Raiders Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization, served as a member of the Laurel and Metacomet School Buildings Renovation Committee, is a member of Bloomfield Education Foundation, is involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program and with the Food Share Walk For Hunger Program, serves as a volunteer for Salvation Army Disaster Relief Program, is a Youth Leader at Hopewell Baptist Church, and is a founder and coordinator of the Bloomfield Back to School Community Fun Fair.
Donna is a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Windsor and has 2 daughters.
